Importance of kidneys
Kidneys are vital organs to maintain a healthy body as they are the most important part of our bodyโs excretory system. It excretes toxic products of our body generated from the food we eat.
We get energy from food. Without energy our cells wonโt survive. When food is burnt (use a better word, suited to people who do not study anaerobic and aerobic respiration!) inside cells to release energy, several waste products including acids are produced. More acids produced from non vegetarian food than vegetarian food. These have to be thrown out from body and kidneys function to remove these acids from our body.
Water content of our body is minutely tuned by our kidneys. Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium etc are essential elements to maintain vitality. Yes, your guess is right, kidneys maintain balance of these vital elements within your body.
Health of bones is maintained by calcium, phosphate, vitamin D. Kidneys keep optimum level of these elements and in turn maintain health of bones. You will be surprised to know that good kidney function is a key factor to maintain haemoglobin level in our body.
Last but not the least is immunity of our body. Without normal kidney function our body immunity is weakened leading to more infections.
Hence its utmost important to maintain good health of our kidneys.
How should this be done?
Is it difficult or unknown?
